With Nepal, I am grateful to say I travelled to my twenty third country! My final stop on my summer adventures, I was so excited to celebrate the wedding of my dear friends, Shreesh and Shraddha in Kathmandu, Nepal.
I first met Shreesh and Shraddha when I began fellowship at VCU. A genuinely sweet couple, Shreesh and Shraddha won all of our hearts when they introduced us to a staple dish of their home country: momos, a savory chicken-filled dumpling eaten with a tangy, spicy sauce. We once had a βmake your own momosβ party, and to this day, I donβt think Iβve had more delicious momos than those made by Shraddha.
I arrived in Kathmandu on a Friday, and true to their hospitable nature, Shreesh, Shraddha, and a second co-fellow, Jesse, came to pick me up from the airport.

As time was limited, we began our Kathmandu adventures right away. Our first stop was for lunch – the momos did not disappoint! – and then we were off to visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Home to palaces for Nepali kings of old, the center is now a UNESCO-recognized heritage site and home to families, craftsmen and even a school.

As we wove through small alleys, some less than a car width in distance, I found myself admiring the many crafts on display and artisans at work.

The following day was the day of the wedding reception. And what a delightful wedding it was – from the beautiful groom and bride to the delicious food to the sweet song Shreesh sang for Shraddha, I had a lovely time.

Finally a shout out to Jesse, my brother from another mother, for hanging with me in Nepal. We had a few hours to spend exploring Kathmandu, and I must say, to all my single ladies out there: the manβs a catch!

Many thanks for following along on my summer adventures this year.

Thanks for being good to me.
See you this fall! We have a few cities in the US to explore π
With all my love,
izh
